Last Week: The House of Representatives approved the Senate budget (FY-18) last Thursday by a close vote of 216–212, setting the stage for the crafting of initial tax plans. The 20 Republican nay votes will be a concern going forward. It’s a slim margin for the GOP, losing colleagues from varying coalitions. 11 of the 20 nay votes came from New York or New Jersey, two historically blue states that take advantage of the State & Local Tax Deduction (commonly referred to as SALT).
